VILLAGERS of Lomaloma along the Labasa Savusavu highway want road humps built for the sake of the villagers' safety.
Village headman Mikaele Leweniqila said the matter had been raised with authorities and district meetings but nothing had been done so far.
"I am the third village headman who has taken up this issue with the local authorities but they have all turned a deaf ear to our requests," Mr Leweniqila said.
"We worry about the lives of villagers every day because motorists just speed through whenever they drive towards Labasa or Savusavu and something needs to be done now and not later," he said.
Mr Leweniqila said children usually played in compounds that were located by the roadside thus the need for road humps.
Acting director roads John Luveniyali confirmed that they would look into the matter and take the necessary action.
