NADROGA lad Napolioni Nalaga scored a very important try to help Clermont edge Racing Metro 13-12 at Marcel Mechelin in a French T14 clash on Sunday.

Nalaga's try which was scored just after kick-off saw the home side take an early 7-0 lead.

But Racing with former Nasinu Secondary School student Virimi Vakatawa on the bench made a strong comeback to regain the lead with just 24 minutes left. But two penalties from Morgan Parra were enough to extend Clermont's unbeaten run on home soil to 45 fixtures after surviving that mighty scare against Racing.

Also playing on the wing for Clermont was former national U19 skipper Noa Naikataci.

Naikataci from Naluwai in Naitasiri, has quickly made a name for himself in the Clermont jumper this year making his second start of the season.

Naikataci, who also played for Lautoka before heading to France, scored a try in their win over Perpignan the previous week

The third Fijian wing in the Clermont squad is former All Blacks star Sitiveni Sivivatu.

Former national sevens forward Seremaia Burotu came off the bench to help his Biarritz side beat Montpellier 27-8 in their match on the weekend.

Montpellier had former Tailevu speedster Timoci Nagusa.
