ABOUT 300 people in Fiji joined individuals in 300 cities all over the globe on Sunday night in silent meditation for world happiness and peace.
The event marked the Art of Living (AOL) Foundation's World Meditation Day and drew people from all walks of life in Suva and Lautoka to meditate in the hope of positively impacting society.
President and teacher at the AOL Fiji chapter Shusendra Singh said the aim of world meditation day was to get people meditating for world peace.
"We were aiming to harness the collective consciousness of people to meditate for world harmony," Mr Singh said, adding that meditation had the power to transform society.
"There are so many things happening to individuals and with all the stresses they face, they are looking for some relief. And that's what we are doing — the teachings of AOL focuses on stress relief and we have these and other programs for the public."
Mr Singh said AOL Fiji had also conducted meditation programs recently for those affected by flooding in the west in a bid to bring them peace.
