NAILAGA was crowned champion of the Ba Rugby Union club competition on Saturday.
Nailaga edged Senicaucau 13-12 to retain the title at the Ba market grounds.
BRU secretary Josaia Vatuloa said the final was a nail-biting affair.
He said many spectators turned up to witness the encounter.
"People say Ba is a soccer crazy town but there are many rugby fans in the district," Vatuloa said.
"The final between Nailaga and Senicaucau drew a big crowd which just shows that interest in the sport is high. People in Ba love rugby as well. From next week we will kick-off the weekly challenge competition. The teams will be fighting for the Koronubu Shield."
Nailaga scored a converted try and kicked two penalties. Senicaucau's points came through four penalties.
Nailaga is the holder of the Koronubu Shield.
