VETERAN Ratu Veresa Toma came off the bench to spark Nadi to a 5-1 whitewash of Nadroga in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Ratu Veresa scored two goals in the fixture. He added life in the Nadi attack after both teams were locked 1-all early in the second spell.

This was Nadi's second big win in seven days after downing Tavua 5-0 earlier.

Nadroga played with lot of passion in the first-half and scored first through Archie Watkins in the 26th minute.

However, in the second spell the Nadroga defence crumbled after Ratu Veresa came on and took control for Nadi up front.

Despite the big win, Nadi coach Kamal Swamy wasn't happy with the fitness level of the players.

He said many players were involved in a business house competition the previous day.

"We are not happy with the performance of the players because the fitness level is not there," Swamy said.

"We just managed to score because of some experienced players. As soon as Ratu Veresa came, the game changed. All the while we were at the back and Nadroga was attacking.

"Just to gain the three points is not enough for Nadi. We need to work on the fitness level and game plan. We urge all the players to come to training now to prepare for the Inter District Competition.

"Many of the boys were involved in the business house competition on Saturday. Most of these boys are employed by the participating business house teams so we cannot stop them. So obviously their work rate was down.

"The loss to Ba before the IDC is a bonus for us. We have found some loopholes in the team that we need to work on."

Uraia Loki equalised for Nadi in the 27th minute and then scored another goal in the 66th minute. Ratu Veresa scored in the 69th and 82nd minute while Ilimotama Jese scored the final goal in the 84th minute.
