JUDGES at the Na Domo audition in Suva were pleased with the talents that came to try out on Saturday at the Downtown Boulevard.
Natasha Mar, who played Karmen in the Domo Ni Karmen opera show in 2009, was one of the three judges at the auditions.
She said the range of talents showcased at the auditions were amazing.
"We had a good range of contestants with good vocal range. It wasn't just the soloists but the groups as well," Mrs Mar said.
Epi Fong, the coordinator for Na Domo confirmed 55 contestants auditioned. Only 25 will be shortlisted for the first of the two boot camps next weekend at International Secondary School.
"We had groups from as far as Naitasiri come for auditions and some from the west. It's been very encouraging not only because this is the first Na Domo competition but for Fiji because of the raw talent we've seen," he said.
"These are the people who only sing in bathrooms and in their homes and I applaud them for having the confidence to come out and try out for Na Domo."
Shortlisted contestants will undergo boot camps with Mrs Mar, Korean music teacher Woomi Ryou who specialises in orchestra and opera singing and ISS music teacher Tim Ulacake.
The Na Domo final will be on October 26-27 at Lami's Immaculate Conception Parish bazaar.
