SEVEN theories mainly used to explain domestic violence in Fiji have been closely examined in an in-depth study carried out by the Fiji National University's College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in a bid to gather explanations of violent behaviour among locals.
While presenting the results of her research, Doctor Akisi Ravono said the paper explained the influences of theoretical explanations on the occurrences of human violence.
The results, based on the study, were conducted in an urban area within Suva.
The theories were — bio-physical; intergenerational; social learning; patriarchy and socialisation; interpersonal; the power control; and;feminist theory.
