Unlocking the future through reading

READING broadens your knowledge for future endeavours.

That's the word from Commissioner Central Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou at the launch of the National Library Week at Syria Park in Nausori yesterday.

He said this year's theme — Reading Unlocks the Future — was simple and effective.

Col. Tuitubou said reading was the pathway to moving forward.

"Reading remains the cheapest, the most popular enriching leisure activity," he said.

Col. Tuitubou said it was everyone's responsibility to promote reading and not just teachers.

"The more people in the community can read, the more informed they become," he said.

Col. Tuitubou said reading played an important role in the development of children.

He called on parents and guardians to encourage their children to read from a young age.
