A Nadi man has been jailed by the Lautoka High Court for stealing $16380 worth of computer items from a law firm at the height of the March floods earlier this year.
The High Court sentenced Maikeli Narogo to three months imprisonment after he admitted taking computers, laptops, a microwave, external hard drives and other items from Lowing and Associate Law between March 30 to April 2.
High Court judge, Justice Sitambarampillai Thurairaja ordered that Narogo serve three months behind bars while his remaining 15-month imprisonment was suspended for a period of three years.
Narogo's sentence was reduced by the High Court for his early guilty plea and for assisting police recover most of the stolen items. Of the $16,380 worth of items that were stolen, $15,320 was recovered.
