MOVING with time, the South Pacific Tourism Organisation is poised for a digital makeover.
Among the many projects earmarked under the European Union 10th European Development Fund is the revamping of its website with appointment of PB Web Development this week. SPTO E-Marketing Specialist, Pauline Benson said website would strengthen online marketing at both the regional and national levels for the National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) and be a powerful tool for its members.
"The entire membership of the SPTO are going to see great benefits from this website and it will also enable us to promote some very exciting destination marketing campaigns for the region", says Miss Benson.
The new website will be launched in December of this year.
SPTO chief executive, Ilisoni Vuidreketi said other projects in the pipeline included building tourism research and statistics Capacity in the Pacific ACP countries , production and launch of the Pacific Cruise Manual, production of Pacific Island Destinations Image Library, building regional and national capacity in Tourism Data Collection and Analysis, regional niche market research, capacity building in E-marketing for SPTO and National Tourism Organisations and the expansion of the South Pacific Travel Trade Specialist Program.
Mr Vuidreketi said they also received funding to develop a Regional Tourism Strategy 2014-2019 and assist country tourism plans, the development of the Pacific Tourism Sustainability Portal, the development of a regional tourism and hospitality human resources development plan and the training opportunities in selected countries.
