MARIKA Koroibete believes the Fiji Bati team to the 2012 Rugby League World Cup will be a formidable side.
And he is proud to be a Fijian and will be even more proud if given a place in the Fiji Bati team to the world cup in England.
The 20-year-old rugby league player is making a name for himself in the game in Australia with Wests Tigers.
"I am proud to be a Fijian and I will be even more proud if I represent Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup next year,"he said.
"The Fiji Bati team management has been calling me up and they want me to come for the trials in Fiji.
"I am ready to represent Fiji because it's my country.
"We have got some, in fact a lot of good Fijian players in Australia who are doing well in the sport.
"I am pretty sure that the Fiji Bati team to the world cup will be good."
Koroibete said Fijians playing rugby league in Australia were making a name for themselves.
"There are a lot of youngsters and then there are experienced players like Lote Tuqiri and Petero Civoniceva."
"Lote is injured, he has a fractured arm but I am sure that he will recover in time for the world cup."
Koroibete, who toured Australia with the Fiji under-18 rugby league team in March last year, was given a contract by the Wests Tigers which recognised his splendid performance.
Ever since signing up for the team, he has been doing wonders and has drawn a huge fan base.
He has scored eight tries in six NRL matches.
Koroibete first played with the Wests Tigers under-20 team in the Toyota Cup and after seeing his performance, the team management promoted him to the senior squad.
He has a contract with the Tigers until 2014 and has already started preparing himself for the future and for a good life in Australia.
On his stint with the Tigers so far, he said: "It's a very good team and I know that everyone in the team likes me.
"The fans really like me and they say a lot of good things about me. They know that when I touch the ball then I will surely score a try.
"And the cheers from the fans when I'm on the field and with the ball just motivates me to improve my performance."
