SCRIPTURE Union in Schools (SUIS) has embarked on its first community project as part of its 50th anniversary.

Last weekend youth groups and students from Christian fellowship groups cleaned up the Colonial War Memorial Hospital and health centres at Valelevu, Navua, Tamavua and Nausori.

This was a part of the SUIS fundraising work-a-thon which will go towards a week-long carnival scheduled to be held at the end of the year.

"This is not just about fundraising, it's about showing Fiji the values and lessons we have learnt with SUIS and putting that into practice through clean-ups and community projects," said SUIS volunteer Marvin Simmons.

Mr Simmons was part of the group that cleaned up the Valelevu Health Centre in Nasinu.

He was joined by two youth groups from Wesley Butt St Methodist Church and Worship & Ministry Centre, as well as students from Queen Victoria School.
