Fiji: Clean, pristine, authentic

FIJI may not have the resources to compete with developed countries like China or India but the uniqueness of the country should be used to market products made here.

This was the view of Attorney-General and Minister for Industry and Trade Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in an address at the opening of the $1.7million Bula Island Food Supplies Limited's produce processing plant in Nadi. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the word 'Fiji' conjured up images of a pristine paradise and products produced in Fiji were also viewed in the same manner by overseas market customers.

"As soon as you mention the word 'Fiji' people think of something clean, something pristine and something authentic," he said.

"We must cherish that brand and we must be able to capitalise on it, after all it is coming from our home country.
