THE Labasa mill has produced 28,800 tonnes of sugar so far this season, says Fiji Sugar Corporation executive chairman Abdul Khan.

He said the mill had set a target of 45,000 tonnes of sugar for this year's crushing season.

"The mill has also processed 274,200 tonnes of sugarcane and our target this year is to produce around 45,000 tonnes of sugar," Mr Khan said in a statement.

"So far, the operation at the mill is well-managed and there hasn't been any significant issue."

He said the workers were aware of the mill operations and they could not afford to lose focus now that they had moved towards the second half of cane processing season.

"We are also encouraging the farmers to stay focused and ensure we process all the available sugarcane as quickly as we can to meet our target," he said.
