SUVA businessman Pritesh Khatri is aiming to win his second major title when he competes in the Golden Cue Open Snooker Championship this weekend.
The Nausori Club player has been competing in snooker for the past 10 years and just this year, won his first major title, the second national ranking tournament in Lautoka on July 29.
He said the win had given him confidence going in to the Export Freight Services-sponsored tournament that will be played at five venues in Suva this weekend.
A total of 56 players have registered for the tournament and Khatri is optimistic about his chances in the tournament.
"The more players in the tournament, the more competitive the tournament becomes," the 34 year old said.
"Having more players in the tournament means we will get to play more games and there will be more chances of reaching the elimination rounds," he said.
Khatri named national number one and winner of the first national ranking tournament, veteran Suman Lal as one of his biggest threats in the tournament.
"Then there are other players like Yogen Prasad, Viliame Umu, Praneel Singh and Riffat Bhatti who are all threats."
He said he would have to be confident when competing in order to have an edge over the other players.
The tournament will be played at Fiji Club, Merchant Club, Defence Club, United Club and Union Club on September 8 and 9.
