ARMY has forced its way into the 2012 Escott Shield semi-finals after the result of their quarter-finals loss to Covenant Brothers was overturned this week.

Suva Rugby Union games committee chairman Mitieli Waqa yesterday confirmed Army had come in to replace Covenant.

Army will now play Police in the semi-finals.

Waqa said Army had lodged a complaint that Covenant had included a player who was registered in another union.

"This particular player played at number eight for Covenant in the 21-18 upset win over Army last Saturday," Waqa said. "His name is Iliesa Makasiale and he had played for Rewa against Suva in the last round of the Digicel Cup competition at Albert Park in Suva."

Waqa said Covenant had been disqualified because they did not follow proper transfer rules regarding Makasiale's move to play for Covenant.

Waqa said while it was unfortunate for Covenant to lose its semi-final spot, the games committee had to stick to the rules and allow Army the opportunity to play for the trophy.

In the other semi-final, Navy takes on Raiwaqa.

In the under-20 final Marist will take on Savura.
