STAFF of DHL turned out in force at the weekend to clean up and renovate Vatuwaqa Primary School as part of their Living Responsibility project for this year.
DHL Pacific Islands general manager Nick Taylor said the staff had come from as far as Nadi and Lautoka to be part of the project.
"Every year we have a volunteer day when we go out into the community and help out and we have done previous work here at Vatuwaqa Primary, so we thought that we'd come back and offer more help," he said. Mr Taylor said DHL staff renovated a classroom that had been previously condemned.
"We're basically fixing up the deck and painting up a classroom that had been condemned," he said.
"In the past we donated 20 computers to the school's computer lab and now we are doing up this classroom and replacing the floorboards for the children."
Mr Taylor said the living responsibility initiative had three areas - go help, go teach and go green.
He said it was important for corporate companies to give back to their communities.
