A MAN who attempted to enter the office of a sports association will serve three quarters of his sentence.
Saiceni Tekuru, 49, pleaded guilty to a count of attempted aggravated robbery.
The court heard that at 9.35am on May 5 this year, Tekuru and another person attempted to enter the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee office in Suva.
A witness tipped off the police who arrested Tekuru at the scene.
The accused admitted the offence in the caution interview, the court heard.
In mitigation, Tekuru told the court that he was in a defacto relationship and had two children
Suva Magistrate Yohan Liyanage sentenced Tekuru to 24 months imprisonment.
He further ordered that the accused serve the first 18 months at the Suva Corrections Centre while the remaining six months to be suspended for three years.
