TAVEUNI commuters have questioned the taxi flag fall rate of $1.70 compared to the rate of $1.50 in other parts of the country.
Bouma resident Sereima Watinidavui said the taxi fare was too high and when bus services were disrupted, the villagers had to share carrier costs to travel to their destinations.
"For the past two months, bus services to the south of Taveuni have been disrupted and we've really suffered with the high cost of transportation," said Ms Watinidavui.
Land Transport Authority spokesman Alfred Wiliame said the flag fall rate of $1.70 applied to some places in Vanua Levu and Taveuni.
