SUREN Pillay scooped the 18-hole stroke event after scoring a brilliant 2 under par 67 at the Golf Links course in Lautoka over the weekend.
Veteran Pillay, who is a supervisor for Carpenters Air Freight at the Nadi International Airport, faced a tough battle in the Expro Pty Ltd of Australia-sponsored day-long event. The Lautoka Golf Club vice president has been in a top form lately and looks one of the top contenders for the Cleveland/Srixon-sponsored Club Championship qualifying rounds in two weeks' time. Club chairman of trustees Raymond Singh won the A-grade title at the 18-hole event with an excellent score of 68 together with a grand eagle on the 8th hole.
Consistent Manual Ajay finished second on 69 points with Prem Chand settling for the third spot on 70. Golf Links greens director Gaffar Ali showed his steady form to clinch the B-grade title with a score 70.
