THE police have managed to identify the man who was allegedly beaten by three nightclub bouncers in Suva two weeks ago.

Confirming this to The Fiji Times police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said during interrogation the man denied being beaten up by the bouncers.

"He has denied all reports of the alleged beating and being taken into the nightclub where he was further abused," Ms Naisoro said.

She said during his interrogation the man said he was not assaulted reported in the media and claims that he only suffered "minor injuries".

Ms Naisoro said the man also informed the police not to investigate the matter any further.

A witness who lodged the complaint with the police last week claimed the man was beaten up repeatedly while he lay on the ground bleeding and screaming for help.

The eyewitness also claimed the man, whose face was almost unrecognisable, was then dragged into the nightclub where he was further abused.
