NAITASIRI rep Netani Vora put behind him the disappointing Digicel Cup final defeat to Nadroga last weekend to help his Army Naitasiri side reach the final of the Naitasiri Rugby Union SNK zone club competition.

On Saturday, Vora was the standout player in the Bainimarama Shield competition semi-final against Nauluvatu.

His experience with the provincial side exceeded his opponents as he crossed the whitewash twice in the close 23-17 win at Samabula's Ram Lakhan Park.

Competition official Akanisi Rokotakala said Vora would be one of the players to look out for in the final next weekend.

She said clubs in the competition stepped up to another mark on Saturday to deliver their best performance to date.

"Since this was the semi-finals, all teams were gunning for a win to remain in the competition," Rokotakala said.

"That is one of the reasons why the intensity of all the games was so high," she said.

In the other Bainimarama Shield semi-final, Kecisemani beat PCN Wailoku 11-7.

The semi-finals of the Rosakuwai Shield were also played on Saturday.

Colo-i-Suva drew with Kasavu 13-all in the first semi-final and since neither team could break the deadlock after 10 minutes extra time in each half, the match was awarded to Kasavu for scoring the first and most tries of the game.

In the other semi-final, Natuva Cup holders Vunikoro beat Taisau, a club sponsored by renowned local soccer referee Rakesh Varman, 17-11. The finals of both competitions will be played this weekend.
