Debut
FORMER Flying Fijians utility back Josh Matavesi will make his debut for the Worcester Warriors against Bath in the Aviva Premiership opener. The summer signing will start at inside-centre linking with fellow Fijian Josh Drauniniu who will be running on the right wing. Manu Samoa skipper David Lemi also starts on the left wing.
Reunion
FORMER Uprising rugby club mates, Waisea Nayacalevu and Adrea Cocagi might link up together again in Europe. Nayacalevu plays for Stade Francais and Cocagi will be jetting out of the country tomorrow to join his new club in Italy. The two featured for the Uprising rugby sevens team in local tournaments last season.
Tasman fight
FORMER Flying Fijians and Nadroga lock forward Tevita Cavubati featured prominently for the Tasman rugby team during their Ranfurly Shield defeat to Taranaki 49-40 on Saturday night. Cavubati was strong in attack and defence but could not help his side as they went down fighting against the defending champions. New Zealand sevens winger Waisake Naholo played for Taranaki in the successful defence.
Drag fun
IT was more like fun in the park at the Taunovo Airstrip during the Fiji Car Club drag race event in Pacific Harbour yesterday. Families flocked the airstrip to witness the car racing event which has slowly gained momentum in Fiji. FCC president said they were surprised with the great turnout from the public. He urged the business cooperative to rally behind them and help lift the standard of the sport in the country.
