RATU Josefata Dugucagi scored two goals to help Nadi wallop Tavua 5-0 in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

The experienced Jetsetters dominated the encounter in front of a poor crowd. Less than 150 spectators witnessed the match with fans opting to spend their Fathers Day at home.

The win ensured Nadi's run for the 2012 NFL title.

Varanava Lotu, Natutunisau Caucau and Savenaca Nasara were the only big names in the Tavua line-up.

Nadi coach Kamal Swamy gave a break to a few youngsters including Napolioni Qasevakatini and Rusiate Matirerega.

Swamy said the new players performed well.

He said the big win was a morale booster

"It was a good result as after a long time Nadi has scored so many goals," Swamy said.

"We gave the young players a break in the game. They need a little bit of guidance and we are working towards that.

"The senior players are very supportive of the idea to bring the youngsters in. This is a good sign. The three points is very crucial as we are third on the points table. This win will certainly lift the morale of the boys."

Ratu Josefata netted after nine minutes. He doubled Nadi's advantage in the 15th minute.

Sher Khan scored Nadi's third goal in the 15th minute. Nadi led 3-0 at halftime.

Amani Makoe scored Nadi's fourth goal in the 58th minute while Matirerega powered in the fifth goal three minutes from fulltime.

Tavua coach Saroj Kumar said they did not expect a drubbing.

He said they were building a new side.

"This is not what we expected," Kumar said.

"We are using secondary school players as we lost many of the senior players during the last transfer window.

"Some of the players in the team have only trained together for one day because they reside out of the district."

Nadi has 31 points and is behind Suva on 33 and leaders Ba on 35.
