THE Suva and Lami Darts League starts at the Defence Club today.
Top teams from the two associations will go head-to-head as they vie for top honours at the Vodafone-sponsored event.
Top sides Combined Brothers and Wild Bulls from Lami, Team Finance Pacific and Wilderness Merchants Club from Suva are favourites for the title.
However, Snipers and Traps are capable of producing upsets.
Wild Bulls heads Pool A with Wilderness Merchants, 3Ds, Traps and Defence Club while Combine Brothers is drawn in Pool B with TFP, Fintel and Snipers.
Fiji Darts Association president Nyla Alfred said there would be upsets in the 16-team competition.
"New teams like FMF Shooters may cause upsets in this league also. Further, we also have some young players like brother and sister Joseph and Isabel Heritage from Basic Darts playing well in their first year with teammate Simon Pene," Alfred said.
Defending champion Procera will not be part of the league after failing to field a team in the Lami league this season.
"Both associations (Suva and Lami) have top players so we are looking at some stiff competition during this League," Alfred added.
Draws:
Pool A: Wild Bulls v Wilderness Merchants; 3Ds v Central Darts; Traps v Basic Darts; Radial v Defence Club
Pool B: TFP v Combine Bros; FINTEL v FMF Shooters; Goldarts v RG Direct; Snipers v TFL
Games start at 7.30pm.
