FRIENDS and families that attended the University of the South Pacific family fun day in Suva were treated to rides on the Uto ni Yalo around the Suva foreshore on Saturday.
The Uto ni Yalo, which had just returned from its voyage around the Pacific, was one of several fun activities at the fun day, including ferris wheel, pony rides and a bouncy castle for the children.
"A lot of times we do things for the students and staff of USP, but hardly for the young families of the staff and students," group manager of USP Campus Life Glenn Pope said.
"This is a time for these young families to just enjoy themselves and the company of other young families at USP," he said.
The family fun day also had live music from Laisa Vulakoro and her band, as well as a blood drive from the Ministry of Health and the smoke house display from the National Fire Authority (NFA).
Mr Pope said other USP campuses around the region, including Marshall Islands, Niue, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Tonga and Solomon Islands also held their family fun day on Saturday.
"The other campuses around Fiji and the region will hold theirs later in the month," Mr Pope said.
The USP family fun day began three years ago and has been a much anticipated event since.
