THE countdown has begun on who will represent Fiji to the Miss India Pageant that will be held in Kuala Lumpur next year.

Following weeks of auditions in July and a semi-final early in August, 10 finalists have been chosen to compete for the Miss India Fiji crown next Saturday at Tappoo City.

The 10 queens held a public appearance at the food court at Tappoo City on Saturday, strutting their style on the catwalk and introducing themselves to the hundreds who had gathered for the event.

"Next week is a week full of activities for the girls," Naziah Ali, Miss India Fiji co-ordinator said.

"They will be visiting the Pure Fiji Factory for some beauty therapy and tips. They will also go to Fiji Fashion Week for a talk on posture, catwalk and confidence. They have fitting and photo shoots with Tappoos as well as a visit to the Old People's home," Ms Ali said.

"The girls will be performing their talent at the home for the residents. In the evenings, the girls will be undergoing further training and rehearsal before the grand finale on Saturday evening," she said.

Ms Ali has called on the people of Fiji to throw their support behind the girls and buy tickets for the much anticipated crowning.
