THE special investigating team appointed by police headquarters to handle the million dollar scam in the north will return next week to continue with the inquiry.
Police Criminal Investigations director Senior Superintendent Vakacegu Toduadua said the team had completed the first phase of the investigation.
"They returned to Suva with the report over the investigations on certain issues and we have compiled that report," SSP Toduadua said.
"The team will return next week or the week after to Labasa to continue with the investigations," he said.
He said only after the completion of the investigation then a decision would be made on the next course of action to take against those accused.
SSP Toduadua said the investigations so far had been done well by his team.
The team was sent to Labasa to investigate allegations of a million dollar scam involving a businessman.
Police was to also establish as part of the investigation whether the illegal act of swapping of vehicle engines and chassis numbers was committed.
Land Transport Authority this week warned that such acts were illegal and they were also working closely with police.
