NADROGA continues to shock the top guns in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League competition following the 3-2 win over Rewa at Lawaqa Park yesterday.
Nadroga scored the opening goal through Waisea Tale Jr in the 30th minute followed by a goal from Wallace Bali before Rewa's Iosefo Verevou pulled one back through penalty kick to trail 1-2 at break.
Akuila Saukuru extended Nadroga's lead to 3-1 in the 76th minute before Ni Vanuatu Robert Tasso nailed a spot kick but it wasn't enough for the Delta Tigers.
Nadroga president Doctor Dhiren Lal was impressed with the win and vowed to maintain the same squad in the upcoming Inter District Championship.
Lal said the US-based Kosmick Kumar would be Nadroga's only overseas-based player in IDC.
"We have been doing the development for some time and its bearing fruit now and we are very pleased with the performance of these young players."
Lal said their initial aim was to avoid the promotion/relegation and they were now aiming for the top four spot.
"We have 18 points after this win so our aim now is to finish in the top four."
Ramesh Chandra will be the stand-in coach for Nadroga next week in the absence of Abraham Watkins and Waisea Tale Sr.
Lal said Watkins and Tale Sr would be attending a week-long Oceania Level C coaching training at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba.
