NITIN Gupta struck twice to help Blue Star beat Titans 2-0 in the final of the Lautoka Hockey Association 11 a-side tournament at the Nadovu ground yesterday.
The Blue Star team totally dominated the encounter with Gupta netting both goals in the first spell. LFA secretary Martin Coffin said they started the revival of hockey in Lautoka a month ago.
He said they hoped to stage tournaments in Nadi and Ba as well.
"Currently our tournament only involves the Lautoka clubs," Coffin said. "Next week we will have another tournament. The aim is to stage a tournament every week."
"Nadi has finally got a ground. Hopefully after two weeks we could hold a tournament there. Unfortunately we can't have anything in Ba at the moment because the ground there is not up to standard."
"Interest has come back into hockey certainly after the rival. There are many young players coming up but we have to find a way to keep them in the sport."
