SHOOTERS stood out during the Fiji under-21 trials at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
Returning Afa Rusivakula, sensational Unaisi Rauluni, Mere Serea, Louise Bereso, Ilisapeci Cama, Di Kula Tabete and Losa Tuifagalele were impressive in shooting which saw them earning their spot in the 18-member squad.
Coach Moape Vu said they had a good blend of players in the squad for the World Youth Championship in Glasgow, Scotland next year.
"I got a good blend of players in this squad right from the defenders to the shooters," he said.
"I have got some really experienced shooters and now I'm concentrating on the midcourt and defence."
Vu said the players would be given training programs to follow in the next eight weeks.
He said the team would meet every Saturday to work on their combination, allowing him to monitor the performance of the players.
"Most of them are secondary and tertiary students and as we know this is the last lapse of year where exams are held, we don't want them to lose their concentration in their studies," Vu said.
"So the onus is on the players to follow the training programs during their own spare time and work on ways to get better."
Vu also said the players who were no considered were still in the frame.
"No one is really missing out because in this 18, no one is confirmed of a place in the team until 2013," he said.
"The players who were dropped today (yesterday) will be playing in the franchise team and if we drop a player from the A team, those playing in the franchise team automatically comes in as a replacement."
