FATHER'S Day arrived early for some Golden Age Home residents at Natabua with a visit from more than 30 Fiji Electricity Authority workers in the Western Division.

The FEA embarked on a general clean-up of the property before presenting the residents with a Father's Day cake to celebrate.

Golden Age Home board secretary Rajneesh Charan said the residents were honoured by the visit. She said the board would be organising morning tea today for all male residents at the home.

"The male residents always look forward to this day as this is one of the days in a year they always treasure.

"Even without the comfort of their own homes, they are honoured to be remembered in this home which is their new home.

"These residents are seldom visited by their children and loved ones, but we want to make them feel special on this important day."

Newly-appointed general manager human resources Naveen Lakshmaiya had said the activity would allow for interaction of the FEA team with the residents.

FEA distribution unit leader western Samisoni Roqoimuri said the project was part of the authority's obligation to the community.

"Talking to these residents also made us understand their problems and how they are coping in life," he said.

More than 30 people from all sections in the west engaged in the clean up.

"This is part of our contribution of giving back to the society as such community work is one of the social responsibilities from FEA to be made after a very long time," he said.
