Satya triumphs
PERMAL Satya was crowned the Lautoka Bowling Club singles champion. Satya defeated businessman Raymond Singh in the final. LBC secretary Abhimannu Narayan said it was a tough battle between the two bowlers. He said Satya won through experience. "The club will hold the final rounds of the Local Timber Distributers Limited-sponsored business house tournament next Wednesday," Narayan said. "After the finals of this tournament, Islands Electric Wholesales has agreed to sponsor the next business house tournament."
Teams for NCC
THE Nadi Football Association has nominated two teams to feature in the 2012 National Club Championship later this year. This is after the completion of the ATMS local league semi-finals on Wednesday. AFL DCA Sports defeated Blues Sports 1-0 in the first semi-final. In the second semi-final Malolo Transmitter beat Bulaccino United FC 3-0. The final between AFL DAC Sports and Malolo Transmitter will be played at a later date. Both teams will represent Nadi in the NCC.
Singh appointed
VATUYAKA Primary School teacher Arishma Devi Singh has been appointed as the vice president of the Nadi-based Jet Runners Club. The 22-year-old has been promoting long distance running in Ba. Last month five of her athletes participated in the Cross Country run in Nadi. Jet Runners Club president Abinesh Kumar said they were ready to help Singh groom more athletes in Ba. Former national rep Esala Talebula of Nausori who is making a comeback on the running scene is an executive of the Jet Runners Club.
