THE Fiji Powerlifting national selectors will be looking to name a strong team after the first national powerlifting trials in Suva today.
Fiji Powerlifting team manager Rajnel Prasad said they wanted to select a good team to represent the country to the Oceania Championships in Sydney, Australia.
Prasad says they hope to have at least 30 lifters attend the first trial.
"We want to take a very strong team to Australia and it is important that we have a very good turnout at the trials today," Prasad said.
The trials start at the National Fitness Centre from 11am.
Prasad said they were calling for support from business houses to come and support the team as they prepare for the Oceania championships.
Prasad Fiji Powerlifting will also be sending a master's team to Texas in the US to participate in a master's tournament.
"We want to send a four-member team which will include top local lifter Seinimili Turner."
