Overall market capitalisation falls

Week in Review

THE overall activity for the week on the SPSE e-trading platform concluded with a total of 27,421 securities exchanging hands garnering $32,759 in consideration.

A total of nine out of the 18 listed securities witnessed trades this week. The overall capitalisation of the market descended due to price falls witnessed by the market heavy weight, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH), Foster's Group Pacific Limited (FGP) and Future Forests Fiji Limited (FFF).

The week ended with the market capitalisation standing at $784,111,907. On the other hand, increased share prices were witnessed by VB Holdings Limited (VBH) and the restricted security, Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL).

Other securities that traded and for which the share prices remained invariable for the week were; FMF Foods Limited (FMF), Fiji Television Limited (FTV), BSP Convertible Notes Limited (BCN) and FFF Convertible Notes (FFFN).

In-terms of the overall order flow, a total of $89,905 worth of new orders was registered on the platform this week.

Out of this aggregate value, 52.21 per cent was represented by an interest to purchase securities on the SPSE. The SPSE Total Return Index, STRI fell 0.57 per cent ending the week at 1790.98.

The fall in the market capitalisation weighted total return index is due to negative price returns generated by ATH of 1.22 per cent, FGP of 0.15 per cent and FFF of 1.22 per cent. Positive price returns were noted for VBH of 0.33 per cent and FHL of 0.35 per cent.

Other Market Highlights

There are still three bid-only and now two offer-only securities on the market at the end of trading yesterday.

FGP still ranks as the widest bid-offer margin security with a spread of $4.14 with ATH continuing to pose as the narrowest bid to offer margin security with a spread of $0.01.

Market Releases

There were 11 market releases for the week. RBG submitted the company's AGM resolutions held last week.

Pacific Green Industries (Fiji) Limited (PGI), Pleass Beverages & Packaging Limited (PBP) and BCN submitted the company's half year accounts.

ATH submitted the company's first quarter results and also submitted the company's AGM resolutions and the Chairman and acting general manager's address at the AGM.
