Kalevu Shield holders Tuva is ready to defend the prestigious Nadroga rugby club silverware against Noitoga at Lawaqa Park this evening.

Tuva rugby club spokesman Sanaila Vitau said his players had been preparing well for the first defence of the Kalevu Shield for this season.

"We are the traditional warriors of the Kalevu and won't allow the shield to slip away easily from our grasp," said Vitau.

He said during the flood in March this year, the village of Semo was completely flooded and most valuable things were swept away by the strong currents but not the Kalevu Shield.

Noitoga manager Miji Neiliko said his troops had been camping at Nawamagi Village and were geared up for the challenge.

"Our ancestors from Tonga were also fearless warriors so it's going to be the war of warriors," said Neiliko.
