REVEREND Tevita Nawadra has been selected as the new general secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma.
This was confirmed as the annual general conference continued in Suva yesterday.
Mr Nawadra received 582 votes out of more than 900 cast at the annual conference.
Mr Nawadra, who was acting general secretary before his election thanked members of the conference for having faith in him. He said the appointment came as a surprise and he needed to work towards his mandate for the sake of members.
Mr Nawadra said he was overwhelmed and was willing to work with newly-appointed president Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu.
He said his new role would be challenging but with the support of members, the church and its leadership would achieve their plans for development.
