THE Korean government has assured its support to Fiji and its people.
This was confirmed to The Fiji Times by the Korean ambassador to Fiji, Hae-Wook Cheong during the Korean Food Festival at Defence Club in Suva on Wednesday evening.
He said his government supported the decision by the Fijian government to hold elections in 2014 and restore democracy.
"We have been monitoring the progress and believe that every process is a vital track for Fiji," Mr Hae-Wook said.
He said the development carried out by Fiji at this stage looked encouraging and promising.
"The Korean government is keeping a close eye on Fiji to see whatever's said are being met."
Mr Hae-Wook said although Korea did not have financial schemes with Fiji, it did not mean that they did not support Fiji.
"Providing financial assistance to Fiji is something that we have to see on a case by case basis," he said.
Meanwhile, during the Korean Food Festival, a wide variety of Korean food was showcased which can be adopted in Fiji to combat the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases.
