Planning for the future and retirement is a critical aspect of any person's life, says Westpac Fiji general manager, Adrian Hughes.
Mr Hughes made these comments while signing a working partnership agreement with the Public Service Commission (PSC) to conduct a retiree's expo next month.
"We believe that retirement is an integral part of a person's life and holding such an expo in Fiji is critical to ensuring that people think about what they want to during retirement and what they need to have to ensure that retirement is a time of peace of mind and enjoyment," he said.
Permanent secretary for PSC Parmesh Chand said retirement was not about relaxing at home.
"The expo will inform people on products relating to retirement, promoting the Fiji Volunteer Service and creating awareness on savings for retirement," Mr Chand said.
He said people needed to know that retirement was also about giving back to the community.
Mr Chand said it was a challenge reaching out to those people so through the wide network that Westpac had, they would reach out to a broader community.
The Retirees Expo will be held on September 22 at the Tebara complex in Nakasi.
