YOUTHS have a lot to contribute to our nation's identity and its future of Fiji.
This was the message put forward by permanent secretary for Youth and Sport Josefa Sania at National Youth Day celebrations held in Lautoka yesterday.
"The theme for this year's event 'My Identity, My Talent, My Tomorrow — Youths As Agents For Positive Change' is timely and suitable as we manoeuvre towards the formulation of our new constitution and in preparation of the 2014 election," he said while addressing hundreds of youths that turned up to participate in games and take part in the day's activities.
"We have chosen this theme because youths have a lot to contribute to our nation's identity and have all the talents and potential to contribute to Fiji's future," Mr Sania said.
"This year's theme directly challenges people to be agents of positive change, to embrace their identity, utilise their talents, explore their untapped potential and be proactive in shaping their tomorrow," he said.
Despite a slight drizzle, youths sought shelter under tents, and used tarpaulin sheets to stay dry and hear the message from the keynote speaker.
