Not only has news emerged that she is dating Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger - but her representative has confirmed that the pair are now engaged following a six-month romance.
The insider told People: 'A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.'
Unfortunately for Brody, the shock news also just so happens to fall on his 29th birthday.Despite the ten year age, it seems the couple have found love after uniting in February to co-write a song for Avril's upcoming fifth studio album - the follow up to 2011's Goodbye Lullaby.

When the Spice Girls danced on the roofs of those taxis at the Olympics closing ceremony they looked like they were thrilled to be back together again. But, says, Melanie Chisholm, they were actually terrified.
'The band had rehearsed for a week-and-a-half but we were still absolutely petrified,' says Mel. 'The routine was quite technical, which added an element of danger. We still have a big fan base and we were determined not to let them down.
'There was a huge roar as we entered the Olympic stadium, and that gave us an extra boost of adrenaline. We're not known for being particularly slick. In fact, shambolic is more like it. But it went perfectly.
While we were performing, we each glanced at the others as if to acknowledge that we knew we'd nailed it.

Willie Nelson back
Country music legend Willie Nelson has bounced back after he was hospitalised due to breathing problems over the weekend. The 79-year-old pulled out charity performance in Colorado on Sunday because he was 'suffering from breathing problems due to the high altitude and emphysema.'
But he seemed in good spirits as he greeted by fans ahead of his House Of Blues show in New Orleans, Louisiana this week.
When asked about his health, the On The Road Again singer replied: 'I'm feeling good, thanks.'
It's over already
John Mayer has apparently broken upwith Katy Perry before their fledgling romance even really got off the ground.
Renowned as a ladies man, Mayer is said to have told the singer that he was a changed soul but running true to form, quickly became tired... they're not said to have remained friends.
'John did a real number on Katy,' a source told RadarOnline.com.
'She held off from his advances for the longest time, but he laid on the charm thick and promised her he was a changed man. She eventually gave in, fell head over heels for him and then - yep - once he had made his conquest, he dumped her.'
