Achari at the helm

FOLLOWING his appointment as the new president of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Fiji branch, Ravendran Achari is keen on improving relationships with key stakeholders.

"CPA Fiji Branch is committed to take the accounting profession and the annual congress to another level by engaging with the government and specialists and practitioners to share their knowledge and experience so that delegates can take the knowledge back to their workplace and implement the same to add greater value to the business," Mr Achari said.

"The Fiji Branch Council will start work soon on the 2013 Annual Congress and promise to bring another exciting set of speakers to maintain and develop of the standard of the congress."

Mr Achari said the 2012 CPA Congress was a great success with the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama being the keynote speaker.

"We had more than 320 people attending the two-day congress held at the Sheraton Fiji resorts last weekend.

"It was a privilege to have the Prime Minister as a key note speaker and the Attorney-General speaking at the congress, their presence made a great difference and contributed to the success of the congress."

The congress also hosted world class speakers such as David Parmenter, Geoff Vautier, Darren Hopkins, Paul Ansell and Peter Drysdale.

Mr Achari also thanked the outgoing president, Pradeep Lal, the chief financial officer of Vodafone Fiji, for the great work accomplished in the last four years. Mr Lal is still a member of the CPA Fiji council.
