LANDOWNERS should be given the liberty to own all resources on and below the land.
Presenting his submission in Nadi yesterday, Nabau villager Maleli Nadre said landowners only owned the land but the resources below the land was owned by the government.
"We, as landowners, only own the land surface but we have no say on the resources below our land," said Mr Nadre.
"Currently, excavating of manganese is ongoing on our land but we the landowners are not benefitting from this.
"As a concerned landowner, I want the ownership of land, mineral resources and fishing ground to be owned by the iTaukei owners."
In another submission in Nadi yesterday, Tomasi Naulumatua, of Namotomoto Village, said there was no need to have women's rights because the police were there to protect all citizens.
"My submissions for the new constitution is to abolish the women's rights and movement because we have a law in Fiji that protects everyone," Mr Naulumatua said.
"We have laws that protect women from abuse and other crimes against women."
