STRIKER Napolioni Qasevakatini starred for defending champions Central College in the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship under-19 quarter-finals against Saraswati College yesterday.

The sixth former scored a goal in each half to help Central College to a 2-0 victory at Govind Park in Ba.

Central College continued their fine form in the tournament remaining unbeaten.

Central College coach Roneel Sharma said the side was on track to defend the title.

He said the three training sessions during the past two weeks had really helped them.

"The heat is one factor that the players will have to cope with come the semi-finals," Sharma said.

"We missed our fullback Setareki Delana during the quarter-final. He was injured. Hopefully he can make a speedy recovery for the semi-finals.

"Napolioni is a talented footballer. He is part of the Nadi youth team. I believe he was on the bench for Nadi in the National Football League match against Suva. Ba Sangam is the favourites for the tournament but we will give it our best shot."

In the other quarter-finals, Labasa Sangam defeated Tavua College 1-0, Cuvu College downed Swami Vivekananda College 1-0 and Ba Sangam defeated Penang Sangam 2-0.

In the semi-finals today, Labasa Sangam will take on Cuvu College at 9am while at 10.30am Central College will play Ba Sangam.

The U17 category remains wide open with Ba Sangam, Labasa Sangam and Vashist Muni in contention for the title.

The final round robin matches of the U17 grade will kick off at 1.30pm.

Tavua College was crowned as the U15 winner on Friday.
