THE Karate Fiji National Championship will be a testing ground for Fiji reps representing the country at the Oceania Karate Championship in Australia next month.
The national team, led by captain Pita Lenoa, will compete at the Crest Chicken-sponsored event at the Yat Sen Secondary School Hall today.
More than 70 athletes from the four Dojos (Karate clubs) have confirmed their participation.
Both kata and kumite events will be played starting from the 6-7-year-old category.
Karate Lautoka, Lautoka Shotokan, Karate Nadi and China Club will be the four clubs competing.
Pacific Games gold medallist Naomi Bakani is one of the top athletes.
The competition starts at 8:30am today.
