FOLLOWING the completion of technical works for the proposed $10 million hydro-power project in Taveuni, government is now waiting for response from its Chinese counterparts on the details of the work carried out.
Island district officer Ilivasi Tuitubou yesterday said the Chinese government would soon update them with the progress of work carried out at the project site in Somosomo.
"Design and technical survey works were completed early this year and now the engineers have returned to China to compile their reports which will be submitted to the Fiji government sometimes soon," Mr Tuitubou said. "This is a joint venture project which our government and its Chinese counterparts are working on to complete for the sake of the people," he said.
