CHIEFS of Bua have reached a decision to commit their people through formed groups to cane cutting jobs this harvesting season.

The chiefs met in Nabouwalu, Bua last week where the cane labourer shortage was discussed.

Tui Wainunu and secretary of the bose vanua Ratu Orisi Baleitavea said five districts from the province had already sent groups of men to cane belt areas.

"We will involve more villagers and increase number of groups that are to go out for cane cutting jobs in the area of Macuata," Ratu Orisi said. "We already have five districts involved and they have more than one group from a district."
