ITAUKEI dress codes are now slowly fading.
And the Constitution Commission was urged to consider these laws in the new constitution.
Komai Nausori Ratu Meli Baleinaivalu made this observation as part of his submission to the commission.
He said traditional culture was gradually deteriorating because it was not safeguarded.
Ratu Meli said it was a disgrace and hurtful to see iTaukei women dressing in pants and wearing hats around the village.
He said young children were too exposed to the western lifestyle that should have been controlled by their parents.
He proposed that the commission revive this traditional lifestyle through the new constitution.
Meanwhile, Penny Moore a member of the Commission said a lot of submissions were contradicting.
She said it was interesting though when some raised an issue and another person proposed the opposite.
However, she said they would listen to everyone's submissions on what they needed to see being part of the new constitution.
