THE Pacific Coconut Development project should begin soon following a successful meeting between Pacific, ACP and European Union representatives.
A statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry said the project was moving closer to being a reality following successful meeting in Brussels between Fiji's Ambassador to the European Union, Peceli Vocea, with other Pacific and ACP representatives and the EC, ACP Secretariat and EU delegation in Suva.
The statement said the European Commission had now confirmed the draft final report submitted by Mr Vocea and other Pacific and ACP representatives had now been approved after a final vetting process by the commission.
"The report will be tabled for funding approval by the EC after the summer break in August 2012," the statement said.
It described the project as ambitious and forward-looking development initiative.
