ANY affirmative action by ethnicity, gender, or socio economic status should be included in Fiji's new constitution and reviewed as new plans are implemented.

This was one of the submissions made to the Constitution Commission on Saturday at the Anglican Church in Nausori by Rewa chief, Ro Filipe Tuisawau on behalf of his province.

In his submissions Ro Filipe recommended an audit be carried out as soon as possible on intakes to national institutions since 2006.

He said places in national education institutions and so scholarships should be on quota basis.

"The quota should reflect the ethnic make up of Fiji as future imbalances will be a source of dissatisfaction and instability," Ro Filipe said.

He also recommended to the commission that an audit should be carried on iTaukei businesses and how many had gone under, and why since 2006. "In addition, an audit of government contracts since 2006 should be conducted, who these were awarded to and whether any conflict of interests was involved," he said.
